A friend of mine moved to an older ranch house that had a large shed and behind the shed he found 12 pump type machines with large cast iron wheels. He has cleaned up one of these and was wanting to know what he has. It has a brass plate with the following;
Boyle Dayton Co. LA.use Cut-121 Model no-GG
serial no 1027. He believes it is an early gas pump that is a cart type with two large cast iron wheels that have heart designs in them. What is it and when was it made? I can email a picture if it will help.

Hey Al,
If you check out the SHOWCASE AND STORIES section of this forum look under the topics for...... DWAINE BUCKS JLGAS, HOME OF THE LARGEST SEASIDE COLLECTION. He has a cart like you are describing with the hearts design built into the wheel. I'm sure when he gets around to getting up he will have some words of wisdom for you. He really is a pretty sharp guy.

This gas cart was made around 1925. It is a very desireable item. Let me know if you need literature or more information on the book. Ron

I've sent pictures to bundyguy, hopeing he would answer some questions on his cart , we collectors find questionable stuff all the time, some go buy dates in books , but what happens when some one comes along with a different dates??? ,
This cart pump of mine is dated , 1912 on the cart, which is Boyle - Daton , and the pump is a Bowser last pat:1916 , it only pumps 1/2 pint, 1 qt , 1/2 gal. it was for pumping distillates on the curb , it has a conection for a hose that you can unscrew and replace it with a 1 1/2 " long by 1/4 " tube for filling small containers , it also by top at the out let has a hook for hanging small containers with bales that was for the home , so in the teen years we were in world war one , who knows what the companys did to stay in business , but as Ron says 1925 , why would they need carts when they were putting in filling stations and oil depots , and to answer the value part of the question , a good cart with a complete pump, should bring around 500.00 to 700.00 ,
and my friends back east around the dairys , I remember useing a boyle - dayton cart to push the 5 - 7 gallon full milk cans out to the road for the truck to pick up , so don't just drive by that old stinky barn ,
ha ha . have fun , knock some rust,
One more thing for the guys that have books on carts an cart pumps , were bowser an boyle dayton ever partners????
