Hello Everyone! I may as well start by saying I'm as green as green can be when it comes to vintage gas pumps. I bought my first gas pump just last week(that statement seems to imply there may be other pumps purchased in the future). The data plate around the reset crank reads Model 96-1 and Serial 845753. If anyone has any information regarding dates used, etc I would be interested.

Does anyone know if the brackets that retain the stainless steel trim are being reproduced. The trim pieces I have are good but most of the brackets are shot. I am also looking for the cover for where the hose comes out of the side of the pump and the trim that the nozzle end sticks into.

Thank you for any help and thanks for this site.

Jeff

Jeff...here are the parts that I carry for that pump:

As far as the trim brackets, I don't know of those being made. They could be, I just haven't heard of it yet.

AS FAR AS GETTING AN APPROX DATE ON YOUR PUMP FROM THAT SERIAL NO., THERE'S ONLY ONE GUY ON THIS SITE THAT COULD HELP YOU AND HE'S JUST RECOVERING FROM A RECENT HEART ATTACK. THAT WOULD BE JACK SIM...AUTHOR OF "AN ILLUSTRATED GUIDE TO GAS PUMPS/IDENTIFICATION AND PRICE GUIDE." GIVE THE REQUEST SOME TIME....BUMP IT BACK TO THE TOP IF IT FALLS OF THE CURRENT PAGE. GOOD LUCK...PUMPS ARE ADDICTIVE...I'M HEADING OUT SHORTLY TO LOOK AT ONE MYSELF....LOL! WELCOME TO OLDGAS.COM!

Welcome aboard Jeff,
I have no info on your gas pump but would like to see a picture. I tried to remove some of my trim pieces and broke some of the brckets. I was thinking of getting some stainless hardware and JB welding it to the trim pieces. JB Weld and duck tape should fix anything, right?

Those pieces are held on with bolts that go though the door skin. I dont think that anybody is making those strips right now, but I'm sure that somebody here will have some used ones. Untill then, you might have to get creative with the ones that you have. As far as the date, I believe that they went into production in 1938.

Here is a link, to a recent restoration feature.

Its for a different pump, but it should help you through some of the basics in pump restoration, though i am a bit biased in my opinion. Welcome to the site, and keep us posted.

Welcome to the site Jeff!
Send me an email and I can fix you up with the mounting brackets. I have a very limited supply and they are in good demand.

Thanks to everyone who responded to my first posting. I have been in contact with a couple members who have been able to supply several of the parts I need to complete the project. Does anyone know what the site glass spinner looks like in this model?

Thanks
Jeff

Jeff...Shoot me the make/model and serial number of your pump and I can tell you the year and maybe the month it was made. I have a pump BLUE BOOK that lists month/year of all pumps by serial number, made between 1927-1952. Anyone interested in these BLUE BOOKS they are for sale at 15.00 plus shipping....tks Warren

The spinner is oval shaped with a twist.

I made one for this pump. If you cant find one, let me know, I'll tell you how I made this one.

Thanks for the photo ThunderII. That's what makes this site great.

I will try to fab a couple on my own. If they don't turn out, I may be asking for your method.

Jeff
