Anyone else know anything about Circle K taking over Shell stations in their area? Noticed a Shell station in SW Chicago suburbs changing to a Circle K sign last week, today another station in the area has the pump video screen thanking me for shopping at Circle K, even though the Shell sign hasn't changed yet. Is this just a regional thing or nationwide?

In Decatur, there's a Shell station with Circle K branding on the building, but Shell on the canopy and pumps. They told me once that they're not a corporate Shell store - they just sell Shell gas.

I'm not sure how long it's been that way, but has been for the past year. Two or so years ago, a "bigfoot" station in Terre Haute switched to Circle K, selling Shell gas as well.

Here around Oklahoma City when I was a kid back in the 70's and 80's Circle K's used to be everywhere then they all went away. Now it seems like overnight they're everywhere again.
Go figure???

Circle K is a large C Store operation.
Here in Indianapolis they sell Shell, Marathon, and other brands of gas.
Shell sold all their Midwest Terminal and Pipeline Operations to Buckeye Pipeline in Oct of 2004.
Article about that: http://www.thecarlylegroup.com/eng/industry/l3-topnews-article2884.html

The Shell stations here in Central Indiana that didn't close after their contracts were up, were bought by Circle K.

In the Toledo Ohio area, Circle K just took over the Sterling gas and c-stores.

There is one Circle K in Roseville Ca. that is branded CHEVRON-rather unusual for this area.
