I believe this was a petroleum transport in a previous life because of the grounding lugs on the top rail. If not, it is just a neat old truck !!

I have to agree with you on it being a petrol tanker.
Seeing a ladder on the front of one of those that old is unusual too.

It would make a good marshmallow toaster if someone forget to drain it before using it on a real fire. Cool photo.

Nice photo Dave,it probably had a grounding strap on the rear bumper also.Looks like some i remember from the 50's in the midwest.

Could have been purchased by the fire dept. to transport water to remote fires. If it is one big tank, it was probably made to transport water, but if it has 2 or 3 seperate tanks, probably it original use was to deliver petro products. A climb up on to the top would yield more information.
