Place to hang clothes from before there were those hooks above the window?

Definitely made to suction onto glass! The way the cam is made, if you hung something heavy on it, it would release the suction!
Don't ever remember seeing one and I don't know what they were used for. Interesting??

I have a Shell one, probably even older than the Mobil one. It clips over the glass so you could hang things on it. Will try and find it and post it here.

Yes, cars didn't always have coat hooks.

My first car had running boards.

Back seat window hook for clothes on hangers. The heavier the items the more suction[vacuum]was created
SHELL made one to clip on top of window, then window was rolled up.
SHELL hangers wouldn't work if you had a 5 window coupe.

...I've got a Mobil one like that somewhere...

Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...

Barry, nice find. Little things like that are rare.
I have to agree with the others, a rear window cloths hook.
Only made to hold one or two items.

Here is a version Marathon put out like the Shell one that was mentioned as an over the window hook. I enjoy collecting small items like that. Never ceases to amaze me, the little handy ideas they came up with.
