Does anyone know when gas stations started using driveway bells? Also, were there very many manufacturers? I have two SIGNAL-U units from 1960s'. What do you have? Sam

one milton bell here.... don't know when the originated, but the purpose was to alert the one-man shop employee to get his head out from under the hood in the bay to go pump gas...

All I know is that it always seemed to go off when I had just maneuvered my hand in a tight spot to get a nut/bolt started on a hard to reach part.

I have a couple of Miltons, don't know when they started, but old movies and 3 Stooges shorts you can hear them, so my guess they were common in the 30's. tt
