I am new to signs and don't know much about them. Can anyone help me out with a value of this sign? The seller is asking $250. It is double sided porcelain and 72" in diameter. I know the picture isn't great, but it is the only one I have. The seller says that it is from the 50's, but he said there is not a date stamp on the sign. Should there be? Were these signs ever reproduced?

Looks like a nice sign. I don't know of anyone reproducing a sign that large. Some company's signs were dated and others were not. It is original and looks like it's in pretty good shape. At $250, if it were me, it would already be hanging on my garage wall.

Nice find!

Mac

I've bought from the gentleman that has that Pure sign, and he's a very good person in my book.

Thanks for all of the replies. I forgot to mention that I have to drive about 6 hours roundtrip to get the sign. I don't mind driving, but wanted to do as much research as I could before making the trip!

I wouldn't drive that far just for that sign! See if you can buy some other stuff to make the trip worthwhile, or post in the transportation forum that you need to have the sign picked up and hauled.

The seller has some other things that I am interested in as well. I might see if he will put a "package deal" together for me to make the trip worthwhile.

You are exactly right. I called the seller back and he told me that one side has been "touched up" somewhat. He also sent me these pics of the other side. Given this new information and the condition of the other side of the sign, does this affect anyone's opinion of the value of this sign? Is it sill worth $250?

IF YOU'RE DRIVING A GAS GUZZLING PICK-UP FOR 6 HOURS THAT'S GONNA COST AN EXTRA $50+ IN GAS. DOUBLE THAT IF YOUR 6 HOURS IS ONLY ONE WAY.

NOW THAT I LOOK AT IT, I'M THINKING SOMETHING IN THE $125-175 AREA IS A BIT MORE REASONABLE.
