I need to transport a complete with can and tubes neon sign on a trailer. Does anyone have pics of how you have crated a round sign? Sign in question is pictured. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

IMO- I think it would be easier too take the neon off
than build a crate- the whole idea of the crate would be too protect the neon, depends on how far you have too go.. cool

I agree with Randy. If you're going a ways take the neon off and its a lot easier.

You can do a couple of things. You could install a J channel on the back with another one on the back of a crate as pictured in the clock one. Then you would just block all sides so that it does not slide.
Another option is putting the neon on chicken wire in a crate so that there is movement but not hitting anything. Or third just putting it into a crate, blocking all sides and the front of the sign in the crate on the edges.
Many options

I've seen some crates for neon signs online where they float the whole sign inside a crate using foam. It's sandwiched in to the crate with foam and I think the critical thing Is the sign isn't actually attached to the crate. This allows the sign to take shock. If I was transporting on my own trailer for a long distance I'd be tempted to rest it on foam somehow if I didn't want to take the neon off (that's best of course) and also check that none of the tubes were close to hitting anything.

Paul I have used mattress springs under the crates to allow for movement, even when shipping a large sign. One crate inside another with springs on all sides to allow movement.

Yeah Craig, that sounds like it would work really well, same affect and probably a whole lot cheaper than foam.

Use to go around the apartment complexes and look for old mattress and then take the covering off. Around the 1st was always a bonanza.

Here's what I came up with. It survived the 2 hour trip quite well.
Thanks for all those who took time to offer advice and suggestions.
