I have received 3 pm's about this sign, wanting to know brand it was. I've owned the sign 20 years and was told long ago that it was Sunset. In the 1999 globe book on page 94 is the marine globe with a speed boat and Sunset used marine on a couple other globes,so I've come to accept that in fact it is Sunset. Anyone else have other information to confirm or shoot down this theory??

I've seen many of these here on the east coast if that means anything.

I have also heard the rumor it was Sunset, and that is generally what I think myself..

Nice sign!... Sunset-Pacific/Sunset Oil- sign was used during both eras of the company. I believe Sunset was a west coast only company.

If I remember right, the original company was called Marine Refining Co., in the '20s. Then merged with a bunch of other companies to form what would eventually be called Sunset-Pacific, in the late '20s.
