For you globe experts out there,,,I bought a 17" original MOBILGAS globe last weekend at Monroe...I didn't know anyone made a 17" globe. Are these common or rare??> Thanks Warren..

Since it is a Mobilgas globe, it would be considered a 16-1/2" globe. There were several companies that used 16-1/2" metal globe bodies on their visible pumps. Mobilgas versions are not that rare. I don't know of any 17" globes.

Also just to be clear the globe size measurements always refer to the diameter of the glass lense. Anyway congrats on your purchase.

First, thanks to both of you for your input....I measured the lenses and they are 17". I assume they still are considered a 16.5"..Thanks Warren

To measure a lens you lay if face down and measure across (from edge to edge), not by measuring the front of the lens across, as with the curve you are getting your extra 1/2" Darin
