Looking for a project and thinking of restoring a clock face pump. Where does one start to get information on the restoration process?
Books, video's etc.?

One book I personally suggest, is;... "PCM's Guide to Gas Pump Restoration" second edition.....

The book does have images of 3 different restorations. These include a Fry visible, Wayne 60 Clock face and Tokheim 300 Computing/Calculating pump...

More importantly to me; the book has sections on correct color combination and sign/badging... Sections on correct globes/ad glass and of course general information that I use on a regular basis....

You can see an image of the book in the Oldgas "Bookstore" if you are interested in seeing what it looks like...

Pump Restoration by Benjamin/Henderson
http://www.gaspumps.info/gaspumps.shtml#.

Get a pump.

Take LOTS of pictures [outside & Inside, better too many than not enough] & burn to CD.

Select a company & get decals/signs/globe, have paint Mixed to match [not all Repops match original company colors Exactly].

Trial Fit/assemble BEFORE FINAL PAINT [panels DO get twisted/warped during stripping/body work & some New panels need tweaking].
