'real' means yes I can see it laying here in front of me so it exist so its real!

See it everyday on Ebay

but just curious if it is an original of an India repop

It's real......these signs are fairly common and were used in Asia/India area. Elephant was the brand name of Kerosene sold in that part of the world, 1st by Standard Oil, then by Socony-Vacuum and Standard-Vacuum. Was probably made in that part of the world, but looks like an original, old sign. I've owned several variations of this sign over the years. They do make repops of this, but this isn't one of them, IMO.
