Hi All, I recently purchased two Wayne 505 pumps. I am very new to this hobby, and know very little about them. I purchased them because I like the style, and the prices seemed reasonable, and they were close to my location. One has been "restored" to White Crown (probably not original), and the other will require some work. The White Crown pump has a globe on it which I haven't seen before. Can anyone help me identify it? It is two pieces, the large lower half, and a small, sort of dish-shaped top that is secured with a metal strap. It is very ornate, and doesn't look like any of the crowns I have seen. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It would look better hanging in the Lobby of your Motel.

It does have a nice old look to it, but it is for a ceiling fixture in a fancy place, not for a gas pump.

Don't buy anymore pumps from that source. White Crown Gasoline on a 50's pump is not period correct. Wayne emblem on the front is also an add on.

Kinda looks brush painted too. Maybe it's the pic?? They were all brush painted many times at the station so maybe it's original?

"In the wild"... Most likely any "touch ups" and/or total repaint... would have been done with a brush and roller... In the mid 60s that is how we painted "our" pumps at the Station... We would add the paint inbetween Customers.
As we, were open 7 days per week...

Use to repaint ours at the Texaco station I worked at every summer - a brush and a gallon paint. Can't imagine how many coats of paint those pumps had on them. I worked there for 7 yrs and they were being painted before that.

It was spray painted, and not well. I have already learned a lot about how badly this pump was "restored." I donated the globe to the historic Odeon Theater here in Tucumcari. They were completely thrilled to have it!
I am going to change this pump (and a mate) to Conoco brand, and hopefully, it will look a lot more authentic.
Thanks for all the info. If I knew what I know now, I likely would not have bought either of the pumps I bought. I'm still enjoying learning about them, and hopefully making each of them much better.

Is it also true that White Crown was an unleaded brand, even way back in the day? If so, the "Contains Lead" sign on a White Crown pump would be another silly add-on.
