Back during the Feb. Pump Of The Month I made mention of a Bennett 541 that my best friend had restored. I said that one day I would have time to go take some pictures to post and share with you. Well that day has finally come, even though this is not the current POTM.
The fellow who restored this pump retired from a lifetime in the service station business here in Wilmington, one of just a very few full service stations in our town. My friend's son, who now runs the station, was loved enough by his father that "Pops" restored this 541 and ECO air station and it now graces the son's living room. The son was kind enough to take me to his home today and snap these pictures.
Both items are fully original except for the globe and the ad glass. The hose on the 541 has been taken off due to pure aggravation. It will one day be shortened so it doesn't flop against the wall and occasionally do battle with the vacuum cleaner.
My friend, the restorer of these two pieces, is a very talented person which can do ANYTHING and do it very well! He currently collects vintage (1960 and older) outboard motors, marine engines, marine signs, marine etc. Let me know if any of you oldgassers has anything of the sort to part with, this guy is as serious of a collector as there is! He has over 400 vintage outboards that run!! And talk about marine signs and outboard oil cans, you ought to see them!!!!
Well here's the pictures and thanks for looking!
