We're always looking for ideas for new features, or ways to improve existing features here in the Showcase forum. Most of our features have evolved from discussions we've had in all of the forums.

Neal Dunn has done an excellent job hosting Pump Of The Month. Neal has come up with a number of great ideas for POTM. He recently ran an idea past me for a POTM feature. I thought it would make a great companion feature to POTM.
Neal has unselfishly agreed to host a second feature called Unidentified Pump Of The Quarter (UPOTQ). Obviously this will be a quarterly feature. Here's how UPOTQ will work:
YOU will email pictures of unidentified pumps to Neal. They can be pumps that don't have ID tags that you're planning on restoring. They can be pumps that don't appear in Jack's pump book. They can be pumps pictured in old photos that you can't quite make out what they are. Once a quarter Neal will post them and anyone can offer their opinion of what the pump is. This can be fun and educational. You don't need to own the pump to submit it. I imagine that there might be multiple pumps posted one quarter, and one posted the next quarter. It just depend on how many pictures are submitted to Neal.

Neal's email address is:
haninfrared@msn.com

Please support our Showcase features and those that unselfishly host them.
Thanks Neal, Scott, Ted, Hubba, Jason, Doc, and of course Jim Potts!

Hey oldgassers, to be sure there are some of you guys out there who have pumps or pictures that you either have no idea of what they are OR you're not 100% if what it is. How about the future, suppose you find something next weekend that you're just not sure what it is? There would be a slot waiting for your question and your picture.
What do you think?? Would this new topic fly or even glide????
Thanks for looking!

Neal

I am so proud of the Shop Talk feature hosts who give so much of their time and talent to make Shop Talk such a rich experience for enthusiasts. Not just talk. They put ideas into action time and time again. I'm thankful also for the steady support from contributors of answers and images day in and day out. Helping each other is the hallmark of a solid community.

Hey Neal, the only problem I see, is that I'd hate to wait that long to post a photo of the great pump I found, that I couldn't identify. I have a problem with instant gratification!

oldtoy, you wouldn't have to wait. The UPOTQ would always be in the forum and a found pump or post would put it right at the top. I would guess (with all these smart gas geeks) that there would be answers within 24 hours of posting.
Thanks for the interest and the input guys!

I agree with Don, it needs to be an anytime feature.

Maybe we can have a WHAT IS IT FEATURE or HOW WAS THIS ITEM USED.

Dick
