Hey everyone!

My pump just got delivered. It came from a gas station in a small town south of terre haute indiana. It is a Standard Red Crown pump, from an old Standard Station (which I think it gone now, but I'm not sure - I bougth it out of someone's yard).

It's hard to see, but "RED CROWN" is stencilled on the front of it:

Here's the side. I can make out "---- Service" and "---- MAIN ST." and "-----" (some town). Further investigation (a closer look) may reveal more of the wording.

The dial mechanism still works, but needs lubrication...

The cast filler is lockable:

Here's the Tokheim SN Tag:

Note the selector lever. You can set it for PINT, QUART, HALF GALLON, and GALLON. The selector still works perfectly!

Also note the red cloth hose. Perhaps it relates to standard red crown? The nozzle has "SO CO" cast into it. Could this be Standard Oil Co.? There's a number cast on the other side of the nozzle.

Everything is in good shape and working. It should be a pretty easy restoration. I'm really anxious to gather more information on it (I don't eve know the Cut number). It's a neat pump, with an interesting history, and old as heck. I hope to be able to read the service station address on the side, and see if the station is still standing...

I just thought I'd show off my first pump. If anyone has any info on these, it would be greatly appreciated. I'd really like to know the model, and when it was made. Estimated value, of course, would be nice, but it's worth a million to me...

Thanks for looking,
Wes

Wes your hooked, it may be your first pump, but its not going to be your last. It's a great pump to start with, are you going to leave it original or restore it. Richard

Ha! I know I'm hooked... My next target will probably be some computing pump. But, my ultimate goal is a Wayne 60. I also want a Rapidayton 50...

I plan to restore this pump, but not immediately. I'll probably be looking for a few small things for it for quite some time, and won't start on it till I have everything. I kinda like its original look for now though. I'm trying to check on availability of another nozzle (this one has damage) and a new faceplate...

Thanks!
Wes

Looks like a Cut Number 142. Someone has taken off the original drain back tube and replaced it with a Wayne visible drain back lid and base! Ron

Thanks Ron! Interesting that someone would switch out parts like that (especially that part). Did the original lid/drainback tube have the same general diameter? The hole in the sheet metal looks pretty factory-cut.
I'm not sure whether to go back to it, or leave it this way...

Thanks for the compliment Dick! If I do happen to find a 36B top, and there's no pump attached to it, I'll definitely keep you in mind I hope you've earthquake-proofed that tower of tops, btw!

Does anyone know the general dates of manufacture for the Cut 142?

Thanks guys!
Wes
