Here are my contributions to this morbid tale! I bought 5 of Rex's globes, the USPS managed to get 3 of them here whole. I guess if they were MLB batters, that wouldn't be too bad but for this type of stuff it's unbelievably bad!

Hey Dave - I too am wondering how these globes were boxed that got broken? I would be curious how many globes the venders like Vic's loose a year to UPS damage like this... That really breaks my heart when I see an antique that like in parts!

Vic's is a mail order house. Do you really think they would STILL be in business IF 2 out of 5 items were broke in shipping? Dick

Looks like they were just packed in peanuts and newspapers? WOW.
Nice job Aumann. Same to UPS. UPS can be tough on stuff, but it looks like it should have been packed with more care and thought.
I feel for you, You open the package and it feels like someone has kicked you in the stomach. Been there.
Always looking for Ithaca Gun and Lucky Sam soda items!!!

I believe Aumanns packs better than just peanuts and newspaper and I also think they use UPS and not the postal service (USPS)

They were purchased directly from Rex. I don't know who he had pack them. I believe they could have been differently and better packed, but I also believe with any due diligence from the Post Office that they would have been OK. We're going to see how well the USPS stands behind the insurance they sell.
