I found this vintage Sunoco station 4 wheeled battery display cart awhile ago.
I was very excited to add it to my collection,as it still had the original advertising decal applied, and was in very good shape overall.

Notice the side slots below to the left & right of the decal..

I asked the NYork area seller if he had any batteries or anything else for it.He said,"No..but there was originally a cardboard sign that slid in ontop, between those 2 slots"..He said it was parted away from this before he got it,but did believe it was out there somewhere in his vicinity.I thanked him,and continued to search for those items as the years went by.
I did eventually find a dry Vintage 1940's display battery,(THANK YOU OLDGAS.COM),that accents it quite well.

I then continued to find lots of Sunoco related memorabila & use it to display them on,as it worked out well.

..And then I saw it and new exactly what it was.
John, aka Gas Stuff.com on here and from the NYork area as well,(could it be the same one originally removed form my cart years ago?),posted a classified ad on here offering this vintage, slightly worn cardboard battery sign for sale about 2 months ago month.
The sign is dated October of 1958.
We met up @ Peotone last month and my search had finally ended.
Just a neat lil find. smile ....Thank You John.

How it slips in..

Hey! What a neat story! I bet it was a lot of fun over the last couple of years, locating all the Sunoco smalls and making a great display! THEN-to have the actual sign that you needed, just pop up in front of you like that! Terrific finish to a nice display! Congratulations!

I thought the seller said he originally bought it an estate sale in a town called Courtland or Kortland NY...or that vicinity.
