I thought that since Doc was showing off the licence plate that he just got in the "buys of the week" thread, you all might like to see a picture of a 1927 Wyoming licence plate that one of my students just finished restoring this week.
The plate itself was really rough when he brought it in, but he spent a whole bunch of time wire wheeling it, straightening it, and repainting it the original colors.
Overall, for a 16 year old kid I think he did a great job. Chris

YES, HE MUST HAVE A STEADY HAND. GREAT JOB! LET'S HOPE THERE'S A FUTURE THERE. I'M NOT GONNA TOUCH MINE...TOO MANY HOLES. WAS THIS A GRADED PROJECT OR JUST EXTRA CURRICULAR? A+ IN MY BOOK FOR DETAIL AND EFFORT!
I DID RESTORE A N.Y. 1915 PLATE ABOUT 10 YEARS AGO. IT CAME OUT NICE. GOT IT HANGING IN MY SHOP.

This project was not for a grade, it was just something that he wanted to do.
If the kids bring in something like that that they want to work on, I usually try to make some time available for them.
We painted it with an automotive spray gun, so the real time was in masking the letters and numbers. He painted the black first, masked it off, and then laid down the yellow -- so no need for a steady hand!
He's working on a 1932 Nebraska plate right now -- I'm not near as excited about it as the Wyoming one!!!

Glad a little bit of history was saved.
I have a few old license plates from the State of Oregon hanging in my garage. They always seem to please visitors.
