I bought this can at the Brimfield Antique Show yesterday. It's in great shape (one of the cleanest cans in my collection).
If anyone else collects these type of cans, let me know! It's always nice to meet people who collect the same type of items.
Looking forward to seeing other people's Buys of the Week.
*WANTED* 1. Lead top handy/household oilers. 2. Vintage vinyl records of automotive races.

Picked up a triple lubster with Cities Service on it and if you look close to the right of the logo you can see MEDIUM at the top and 15 cents below it.
I am always looking for anything Texaco or Oklahoma oil and gas company's, also I am a newbie at seeking globes.

Hello All, I was very fortunate to be the only bidder on this large archive of Socony-Vacuum and Socony Mobil era company magazines. I couldn't believe I didn't have any competition on the lot of 141 magazines, ranging in date from 1935 to 1959. (There was one from 1928 that predates the S-V period that I study.) In my 8+ years of collecting Mobil items I had only found 4 issues of "Socony Vacuum News" which is a larger format magazine that came out in March of 1935. With the purchase of the archive I was able to double my collection which was worth the price that I paid for the whole lot alone IMO. I've put out want ads on Old Gas for this particular magazine and it has never yielded any results, so I was super happy to get them. The first one I read (Nov 1935) had a story on the Pegasus license plate toppers. Also very interesting so far is that the small round S-V Pegasus service pins were first awarded in 1935. This was much earlier than I thought. The amount of information in these is unbelievable, especially when you are interested in company history as I am! The bulk of the lot are issues of "Doings In General" which was the west coast magazine for the employees of the General Petroleum Division of Socony-Vacuum. These too have been very interesting to look through. There are lots of photos to scan and see if there might be something new to me in the backgrounds. So far I have found what appears to be a General Mobilgas lollipop sign that I didn't know existed. As mentioned in the "Don't Forget Paper" thread a while back, don't overlook these types of items if you are really interested in the history of the company you collect. Most all of the big companies had these employee magazines during the glory days. Darin
