Theone you got from the farmer, looks like it has the globeholder that takes the lightbars!.. is there 2 or 3 tapped holes between the globe and the bonnet?

Keep stuffing boxes tight= Packing gland below the cylinder and on the pump itself. Keep the stuffing boxes tight to keep gas from leaking out. Larry

I used to think the stuffing boxes were the big brass cylinders in the pump! No so. Here are two scans of a Cut 83 pump from the Wayne Boyle-Dayton manual. Note that the stuffing "box" is labelled C-1041. Obviously, if this packing and shaft leak gasoline will drip down into the pump. So "Keep it Tight."

Dodogas, we've had this discussion before. Here is the cast iron globe holder from the DeLuxe pump. It is different from your Boyle-Dayton holder. Did you ever get the light housings reproduced? Ranchpump

The stuffing box is the packing arond the shaft as you use it it wears and gets loose on the shaft. the stuffing is made of rope with a wax like coating, or grease like. When you tighten the big nut (packing nut) around the shaft it squishes the rope and tightens it around the shaft to make a seal. It needs ocasional tighting to prevent leaking from use. Hope this helps and you understand what I am talking about. The hose valve on the outside of youre house is the same way. So if you turn the water on and it leaks around the shaft of the handle take a wrenchn and snug that nut up and it will quit. Usually small incrments were needed maybee 1/2 turn. Once the nut bottomed out you took it apart and put in a new rope (packing) and started the whole process over. Brandon

I believe that Scobie may have made a few of them, I have not got close to doing it yet.
The green one definitely ready to go on the light arms if you can find a set.
Your pumps look great.

Does anyone have something like this for a Fry 73 Speedboy model?
