Ken thats a great collection , I really like those tanker trucks , what year where they made ? and How where they released, just to the dealers for a milestone in sales, or where they sold to the customer ?

Hi Chris.
Thanks for the comment. I do believe they were available from the mid '50's to the early '60's, but I'm not positive on that. The big one is a "Minnitoy" brand truck made in Orilla, Ontario. These are quite popular and highly collectable up here. They made quite a few different Canadian oil company brands in the tanker style. I restored that one about 3 years ago. The smaller one is a "Marx" brand and I think around the same vintage. I bought the tanker separate from the cab off e-bay, a year later I was at an antique show and found the proper matching cab for it.
As for how they were released, I think, but not positive, they were available for sale from the bulk and service stations. I know of a few guys had them when they were young, but they were gifts, so they didn't know any more details. Apparently there are 2 other versions and sizes of tankers out there. The only ones I've seen is in Alex Colwell's collection. Thanks for the interest Chis.
Ken.
