This weekend Tara and I went to visit Brad Ralston (gasoildude). On the way home, we found this 30" Polarine sign, covered in concrete, for a steal. Someone must have used it to mix brick mortar on...

Some muriatic acid, diluted 1:3, made short work of the concrete...

We did spend a lot of the day scraping the sand off between acid pours... It was fun, though, to see the sign emerge.

Have a good evening,
Wes

Here are some real neat cups that would have gone on the side of a water cooler. They are hard to take a picture of.

I found these two island lights at an antique shop in Indiana while on a road trip Saturday. I cleaned them with WD-40 so I don't have a before and after yet. I think they will clean up just fine, very small amount of procelain loss.

Nice find Wes. It does seem like a large number of those Polerine signs that size have been used in the concrete or brick mortor business. It sure cleaned up nice. The picture looks like you didn't waste any time getting it hung on the wall.Bob D. and I were in Nokomis Ill. today gathering up a few treasures. I'll keep in touch, Norm.

This is more of a "free" of the week! Jim from T-Way's Graphics sent these to me as I had the fewest # of posts. He was trying to get some of the lurkers to post more often. Thanks Jim.

Just aquired these locally. Sorry about the fuzzy picture on the tire display. The little Gulf can was a find I really enjoyed coming across. I rarely see them.......Dave

Wes,
Where did you get that sign? Pretty sure I passed on it last year. Can't remember where I saw it though. It cleaned up nice....maybe I should have bought it.
Kim,
What does your son collect? I'll see if I can scrounge something up for him.
Norm,
Thanks for hauling the sign for me. I forgot something at the auction so I have to go back down there anyway.
Bob

Hi Bob,
My son is into qt cans that have images or pictures. He specifically likes the ones with snowmobiles and motorcycles on them, but also gets excited about the Husky, Indian & Outboard cans. Of course I'm speaking of the 5 dollar paper variety type here...

He is almost 8 if that helps, so he gets excited about almost anything. I'm going to have to take my stuff down so he can show off his collection. Hmmmm.

(He didn’t have enough money at the time to buy the Itaska cans, so He traded me the Cities Service can which was given to him, since it had no image. I'm trying to make the boy use his head...lol)

Regards,
Kim
