Last weekend local auction notice listed: Polarine sign (bent) in it's listing. I had to laugh out loud when I got there and saw this!

Very nicely made....took a lot of time. Carefully hand riveted at the seam...hundreds of small pin holes around the perimeter to hold the skirt all were punched by hand.

I will see if anyone knows what it was used for.

Anybody else have something like this?

I think it's amazing how the porcelain held up to popping off. Of course there are plenty of cracks, but then again that is some extreme bending!! But basically no popping off of the porcelain.

It to keep squirrels off of a bird feeder.

Jim I have a seed spreader on the farm that looks like that.
Back in the day, nothing was ever thrown away and recyling gave new life for these items....All I have to say is wow!!

I have to ask, did you buy it?
I remember that shed that you took apart that was lined with Wadham's signs.

I had to buy it....was prepared to go "pretty high" smile against a crazed american picker fan....but it didn't happen and I got it.

You are close...it is a farm item. Not a funnel.

I'll make it easy....a light socket and bulb goes in the hole in the point.

We Have A Winner!!

Chick brooder.

It hung from the ceiling close to the floor and the light bulb gives the heat to keep the chicks warm. They would gather under the old Polarine sign.

I think they are wicked cool and took a good sense of imagination and creativity to come up with. I have talked with the lady that makes them, several times over the years. She sells a lot of them to foreign customers. She buys cans from collectors that keep the better condition ones.
