OK--A little story with these 2 signs! I keep an ad in the local trade paper that offers to buy old gas station equiptment, gas pumps, signs, cans, or anything associated with the gas & oil industry! I get lots of calls at times and other times, nothing, and it makes me wonder if anyone is even reading the ads?? Well, last week I got a call from the retired ex-owner of an old farm implement dealership, and he said that he and his grandson had been doing some cleaning in his old dealership building and found 2 old Pure Oil signs in the rafters of the attic. When I asked him what they would be doing there, he told me that previous to his ownership of the building, it had been a Pure Oil station, and he had added onto that original building for his implement business. These 2 signs were in the attic/loft area of the old station. He went on to explain that these 2 signs were still new and had never been used! (By now you can tell that I was on the edge of my chair and asking questions like crazy!) When I asked about the size, he said they were 30 inches across and were double sided porcelain with the word TIOLENE across them! (I about fell off the chair) He told me that he wanted to sell them and had seen my ad all these years and thought of me right away when he found them. We made an appointment for the next day and I drove to his house and bought them. I am so totally amazed at times when something like this happens! It seems that I start to think that there is no NOS stuff left out there, and then something like this happens! Sure made my week and got me to realize that--ITS STILL OUT THERE!
About 3 or 4 days after the Pure signs, I got a phone call from a contact that I had made about 4 years previous, when I discovered these 2 gas pumps in an old abandoned farm yard where we were doing work for the owner. At the time he told me that he thought some of his relatives were interested in the pumps and they weren't for sale! Well, Lo and Behold, he calls me up and informs me that there seems to be no interest in those 2 old pumps and if I was still interested, I could have them if I would get them out of the yard right away! It took me 2 hours to completely gut them on the spot, disconnect them from the underground tanks, and load them and all the scrap into my pickup---all by myself! I wasn't wasting any time on a freebie like that! Best part is, that all the parts were still there, laying in the grass and in pretty good shape. LOL! I guess it was a pretty good week!

Well as DB has been saying lately, oilcanman87, if you put out the word things happen. And it helps to have a little luck! Nice signs. Well scored Kevin!
