I was able to purchase this pump yesterday. Came from the same place as the Bowser lubester I recently purchased. I have moved a few pumps and this is the heaviest one I've tangled with. Luckily the ground was frozen so we could get a hand truck under it. The gentleman that sold it to me told me about how customers would drive up for gas and his aunt would come out of the house to run the pump. The pump was positioned in a stretch of road that was a long uphill climb. He remembers cars overheating and they would stop to cool down and add water to the radiator.

The pump was still in the original location until around 1980. At that time a drunk driver went off the road and hit the pump. The pump went down and the base snapped off, also the car put a decent sized dent in the pump. I couldn't lower the top due to the dent. I did some surgery today and was able to pull enough of the dent to lower the top about four inches. I can't lower it any farther because the pump is all out of whack due to having no base. If anyone has a base for sale please let me know. Should be the same base for a 275, 276, 280, 302, and possibly others. I have both of the signs that came off of this pump. It had one on each side and are 17" signs.

That's cool, not only to get the pump and signs but to be able to get it's history is a rare thing, good job on saving that one.

Although the Bases look the same, Only the 275/276 & MAYBE a 456 will fit your 5gal pump [full stroke of plunger]. The 280/302 are smaller in diameter [1gal & 2gal lower cylinder].

Theres another old gasser on here that I lined up with a 276 in Minneapolis about a year ago, for parts! I don't remember who it was, but if you keep looking for parts, maybe he will answer?
Good luck!

I have a base for it that's rusted and rough, but not cracked or broken. Email me if interested. Sam
