They have some nice things. Does anyone have any experience with this company? Does the online bidding work well? Isnt a 22% buyers premium a little steep? How are their shipping costs?

This Morphy Auction company has been around for awhile & has a good reputation however he was bought out by Steve Geppi owner of the Baltimore Orioles......Mr. Geppi is buying out some of these reputable big auction companys & puuting them under one name "Geppi's Entertainment Auctions"......he also bought out Gary Metz who has a great reputation selling soda advertising, mostly Coca Cola for many years.........I think 22% is awfully high so i will bid accordingly..........i am not sure of their shipping costs........

At 22% you should get a bargin on the shipping. I dont mind the auctions making money but $22 on every $100 is a bit high. They do have good auctions & quality stuff but sometimes the high premium will keep the prices down. Just my 2 cents

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who thinks 22% is too high. I refuse even to look at the auctions anymore. Just because I won't pay that kind of fee.

How much do the other auction folks charge?

I doubt you will get a deal on shipping. From what I recall, they have UPS box, wrap and ship and they charge at least that price.

The globe prices were low but wow the 22% sure made up the difference. But then I got the bill for 3 globes to be shipped --$185--
Anxious to see how they arrive.

The A 38 $700 before BP
the scriptops $550 and 600 before BP, I guess his 22% is a affecting the sales price

BTW- The world famous christies auction house in NY only charges 20% bp

22% is a bit ridiculous for buyer's premium, but I wonder what he is hitting the sellers for?? I do 10% on both ends and only charge actual UPS published rate + materials at cost. Unless something drastic happens, I don't see going up anytime soon. I've actually come down on seller's commission in the last few years. It has shown up in the higher quality stuff that we've been able to get consigned.

The auctions around here just went to 10% buyer's fee. Some still don't charge any buyer's fee.
At 22% is the buyer the only one paying a fee? Or are they getting 22% from the buyer and still collecting from the sellers? I cannot see the prices being low enough to compensate for a 22% fee. Thats all I got to say about that.
Mike
