Maybe I'm missing something. All those bids took place over a two minute period. It appears-to me- There must have been a 35.00 reserve-no? And P***N was trying to find it? Or what? Then whoever 1***n is had a higher bid entered as a snipe and he won anyway? Maybe P***N didnt want to bid any higher. Why does that make him a goob?

If it takes someone 17 bids to take an item from $11.90 to $36.01 and still not win it. A few adjectives and nouns come to mind, I think calling the bidder a goob is pretty conservative.

What would you call him?

The winning bid was put in with 5 days to the end of the auction, on 1/7.
The goob with all the bids (p***n) put them all in on the last day of the auction on 1/13.
If the winning bidder would have sniped, he could have had the postcard for $13.90 instead of $36.01.

There was no reserve on the auction.

AH,SO. lol. Sometimes it takes me a bit. lol
Dave, he was just trying to buy the item as cheaply as possible and then gave up. He didnt want to spend that much for it. I wouldnt call him anything.
The guy that won may have been able to buy it cheaper , had he waited or sniped it, but evidently he just threw a bid at it early on for whatever reason. I guess I wouldnt call him anything either.

Yup..sometimes another bidder bids, and gets pised off he just got outbid,so he gets angry & obsessed and continually bids and bids and bids and bids and bids and bids.
Like what resembles this situation.
He's calling the bidder who won it a "goob" for putting himself in that situation & letting the continuous bidder spend his money like that.

You guys are reading to much Into it.It is called automatic bidding(an option when placing a "left bid"). The program automatically bids in small increments as suggested by bidder. There is no way you could physically rack up that many bids in such a short time.

That's new to me.
If you go to bid history and click on "show automatic bids", the automatic bids shown are the bids from the high bidder to account for his bid that is over the new bid, because the high bid can only be one increment over the second high bid.
I do know that immediately after you bid, if you're outbid it's one quick click to raise you bid, which accounts for the mere seconds between bids.
Anyhow, just thought it was funny and reinforces my belief that a sniping service pays for itself.

The automatic bids are showing BOTH the high bidder and the automatic raising of the low bidder, I don't remember if its ebay or a snipe service that offers you the option of automatically raising your bids by the minimum increments. I'll bid on something later and see which it was offered on.

I was looking at this from a different angle, maybe a bit selfish. We've all been at auctions where you have an item almost won as the auctioneer is about to call out sold. When out of no where a late bidder jumps in and bumps it a few times. I just hate that, if you are going to do that then bid hard and bid to win. I don't mind being outbid as much as someone running up the bids with no or very little chance of winning.

When I want an item on ebay, I typically wait until the last 10 seconds or so, and I put in my high number. I either get it or I dont. I don't bid until then because it just typically drives up the price. I do sometimes bid earlier just to play the game or to hopefully keep a seller from pulling an item. But it will be well short of what I intend to be my final price point.
What is this "snipe or sniping"? What do these programs/services do? How do they function? And based on what I said above, why would I ever need one. I put in my best number and that's it.

Sniping service is good if you can't be in front of your computer when auction is ending.
