...think I'll coin a term for signs like this: this is a FRANKENSIGN...

...just another instance where the seller doesn't know/care about the history of this stuff, just the dollars...sign is described as '1950's' smirk :

...this scarce early 1930's 30" curb sign has been ruined by cutting several holes in the face of the sign and adding neon...I posted the link - I don't think Jim will lose out on any royalties, because (hopefully) everyone on Oldgas has more sense than to bid on this tacky POS...


Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...

I hate seeing stuff like this. This is about preserving history, not ruining it!! Just ticks me off to see stuff like this. Plus all the beat up reproductions, and fakes from around the world being sold to fellow collectors. Anyone else agree??

I also agree sign survives for 80 odd years only to be ruined. Some peoples kids...
