The label looks to me if it has a bunch of wrinkles and air bubbles in it. Maybe it's just these old eyes, LOL. If they are wrinkles, I would think that someone would have taken the time to smooth out the "transfer" before selling it on ebay. But, people seem to be jumping on it.

You can tell that can has a fresh coat of Krylon and they've done an amateur job of sticking that label on it. I used to have a can that looked quite a bit like that when I was a kid. It had neatsfoot oil in it and I used it on my baseball glove. Someone will be mighty PO'ed when they get that for $350 - $400. They can't help but know it when they see it in person.

Actually, after another look, it might have been painted with a brush at some point.

I just received an email from the seller in answer to my question of if he himself had stuck the "transfer" on the can. His reply; "My friend purchased it at a swap meet about a month ago exactly as you see it in the pictures. David " I then checked my "Got a drop of oil?" books. There is photos of 2 versions of the "Indian Motorcycle Companies" oilers in the second edition, this "thing" doesn't come close to looking like either version. Now I guess there is a third version, with wrinkled front label and no back label. LOL Maybe it came out as a "DIY" version. Here are the photos from the book, thanks Dick, for reminding me it would help to see a photo. LOL

Bob, the two you pictured are legit cans. The chain oil is out there. Extremely scarce? Not really. Usually the labels are stained or foxed. The reply you got should say it all about the made up one on ebay. DIY version for rip off artists.
