This was posted by Butch on another tread.
"Check this NOS repop out. Several of these popped up last year. The blue is the wrong color. The original has a baby blue border."

Hi to all. My heart sank a bit when It dawned on me that my 30" 2 sided sign that I felt sure was right may be a repop. My question is this-with all respect to Dick B,Were any of these signs made with a white border? I'm no Gulf expert or any other for that matter but I've been a fairly hard core porcelain & tin sign collecter for about 10 years. Maybe I got sucked in? I'll try a couple pics. Thanks in advance for help-I'd like to know.

Jim

It appears to me that the blue is the correct color on your sign unlike the repro above where the shadow blue is darker.

Is not necessarily the size of the sign that's it issue but the coloration. Look at our Gulf thread on Showcase and Stories and I think that there is a sign like yours (color-wise).

Just my nickels worth.

I just emailed Butch Greer to post his knowlage on the GULF signs. He has a ALOT MORE KNOWLAGE than I do about these signs.
Maybe Ron Bettin will chime in also.

Hi Jim,

You're sign is as right as rain!! The white border is right. The blue's are right. When you look at the inside of "G", in the repro, you can see some orange peeking through. Your's don't have that.
Both blues are wrong on the repro. The inner blue is to dark and the outer blue should be baby blue, like your's. If you ever hold one of the repros in your hands you will see and feel a great difference. The repros are a litho, that won't have the heavier layering of porcelain like the originals.........
