I am not a can expert but this does not look right to me.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140340857970&ssPageName=ADME:B:WNA:US:1123

Same seller has this one too, sort of looks like a soup can with an oil can label on it.

Any other thoughts?

...fake fake fake fake fake fake...

Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...

I wouldn't touch that with a rented 10ft pole.

Looks like a home-made job to me.

Interesting how they don't show a good picture of the MAJOR dent on the top left side. Some poor guy is going to be the new owner of that Atlantic mess.

Makes me wonder if most of the Gas/Oil itmes on ebay are fake.

Guess if you like something, set a spending limit then buy it. Even if its a fake and you like it maybe it doesnt matter.

With the luck I've had finding stuff locally , ebay or a local swap meet seem to be my only choice.

Darrell--Don't give up on the local stuff--Its out there! Just when you think there isn't any left around, it will come faster than you can pay for it and then all of a sudden----nothing again for a while! Just be patient and keep looking!
As for ebay, I buy a lot on there, and I have to admit, I think I've gotten 3 repop items but the owners were usually more than ready to take them back except for 1 woman that was convinced I was making it up! I filed a complaint with Paypal and they froze her account until it was settled! With her account frozen, she was awfully willing to accept the return of the item! Anytime its something that fairly expensive and I'm not absolutely sure of its authenticity, I just pass on the item and save the money for something else! I have a friend that contacts the owners when hes not sure on an item, and gets a NO QUESTIONS ASKED return policy from them or he won't bid!
Whatever the case,----keep looking!!--KEVIN

Wow what a crappy job too. The label almost looks like paper wrapped around the can.
