I know this is not about signs , gas pumps and oil cans but I think a lot of us have a love for motorcycles , I know I do . I have a fair amount of old motorcycle pictures that I will share each week . Please ad to it if you want .
The gent on the front of the bike is W.M. Shuey. A relative of mine that raced Indian Motorcycles and had this service station in Pa.. Dennis L. let me know that he found the original hand fan in a box and let me acquire it from him. The pics came from one of his great grand kids who took the shots of the framed pics. Needless to say, the gas/oil/car/bike/speed addiction runs in the family!
This is a favorite RPPC (Real Photo Post Card) in my collection. It belonged to my best friend who passed away suddenly from surgery complications 5 years ago. She was an ephemera and antique book dealer and for some reason this was part of her personal collection and I had always admired it. At any rate I have it out on my desk now and think of her each time I look at it.
On the back it reads: Sheb. Wis, 10/8/12 Just a line to let you know that I am feeling fine. Last Sunday on a trip of only 134 miles I had 2 blow outs. Can you beat it? Herbert
I haven't been on here much as of late, but want you to know I really enjoy your pics! Thanks for taking the time to do this. The charity race pic makes me wonder!
Just came across this picture of my Great Uncle John Monroe Hamilton. He served in both world wars and on the back is written “Mon on his U. S. Machine”
