I have fond a Mobilgas scriptop in original condition. It is complete except for hose and nozzel. It has a couple minor dents. The Mobilgas inserts aren't broken and it still has to original shields in excellent condition. What do you think this is worth? Looks like a real easy resto. Thanks in advance

The pump minus top is worth 200 to 250, the top in decent shape is worth 400 to 500 and the pump signs 75 to 200 each depending on condition. That makes the whole thing $750 to $1150 with condition especially on the pump signs being the deciding factor.

Well I sent my wife to the farm auction whre this thing was. It started at $500.00 and sold for $1550.00! I thought I might get a deal because the auction was mostly farm equipment and the pump was on the auction bill as a "Marshall Shwartz upright pump". What is the deal with auctions? Every time i find a pump on an auction, the price goes through the roof! Seems to be becoming a hobby for only people with deep pockets.

plypete,
Don’t get discouraged, now when you see one for half price you will feel like you’re getting a deal. LOL I don’t know how it is where you’re at, but here in MN most pumps, especially visibles go for more than they should at farm auctions. I think its because most of the people attending aren’t knowledgeable about rarity and value...If they haven’t seen one in 50 years, and its for sale, well you know the rest.

I talk to farmers all the time that think a washed out red crown globe is worth 800-1000 bucks. I tell them it is if they can sell it for that. I then offer to sell mine to them for half that and they look at me funny. go figure.

Kim

Still looking for an original Gray & Green Crown.

Thanks for the encouragement Kim. I know I won't give up, I just kindof got my hopes up on this one. I have wanted a visible for a long time too but the price has always been to much for me. I have a G&B 177 missing the entire top above the skins. I'm thinking now about building the parts to make it whole myself but I just don't like pumps with "obvious" unoriginal parts.

Hi. I posted a similar discussion here a few weeks back. There are still some bargins, but not from where I sit. i am seriously considering taking the gas pumps I don't want to farm auctions. Potential for a better price than trying to sell to the cheapskates on this site (Just kidding guys) Who doesn't want a bargin????

Another input on farm auctions.....One was held this past Sat in Emmett, ID....There was a bennett 76 or Tok 34 (I didn't actually see the pump, but was told this)..and it sold for 1800..needed some parts and was kinda rough...Man, who knows...

Best bet on finding affordable pumps is to place an ad in local paper & throw away papers. Also place a wanted note at the grocery & feed stores.
WORKS FOR ME

Hey Alex great idea, I could probably get more for my unrestored pumps at the local farm auctions than at swap meet. Richard
