I need to replace the red rubber tubing that fits in the channels in the face plate and the backing plate. The original tubing is approximately 0.2" O.D. The tubing has to be rigid enough to hold the glass in place without putting too much pressure on it. Any suggestions on what product to use. I found medical tubing, but it is thick walled and too rigid.

I bought windshield washer tubing at an automotive store....but it's black.
you can buy a grey version of that exact tubing at the home depot.
Thank you both for the information.
Ryan, I spent an hour at Home Depot with a HD representative going to every location where tubing was sold and we never found a grey version of the exact tubing. I am going to a lawn mower shop tomorrow and see if a gas weed trimmer fuel line is the correct size. I have windshield washer tubing, but it is thick walled with no give to it. There has to be some give so the glass can flatten the tubing a bit when the bolts are installed.
I have used small diameter rope.
I have used small diameter rope.
I did the same. I used white cotton rope. You could dye it red if you wish.
The product at Home Depot you find it as a sliding door screen gasket they have differant sizes -- hope this help its what I've use
RandyM, one of the products would have worked. I went to a lawn mower sales/service shop this morning and purchased 14 feet of 0.21" OD gray tubing and it fits into the channel perfectly and extends above the channel a couple about 3 millimeters for cushion of the glass. Thanks to all for the info.
