I saw this ad on Craigslist today. Another option might be that if you have signs on a building...one possible deterant could be using an odd tipped screw or several different screws so that removal would be lengthy.
Good point. There is another screw other than a Phillips head. I forget what it’s called but it’s rather uncommon, star shaped head needed for removal. Not a tool someone would regularly carry but can get for the future steal I guess. Just a shame

there a screw out there turns in but can't be turned out without the tool designed for it. it's a common screw head but can't be turned back. I think ace hardware carries them
Torx head blind screws uses a torx with security hole in the middle VERY few people even know about them.
Snake Eye Pan Head Sheet Metal Screws and/or Hi lock fasteners.
There are a few different tamper proof screw designs. They are Commonly used in public bathrooms., or bar bathrooms, where they don’t want the stuff stolen!! Lol
I don't know...seems who ever is removing the signs when they run into the odd screw arrangement would just end up prying it off the wall and in the process damaging the sign and other stuff.
Is there something for sale here???
yes but most thieves are lazy, most will move on. Plus if they are stealing it, you won't see in again, so if they damage it so be it.
