is there a collectors guide to show how to determine the era for oil cans?
Im trying to stay with mid 40's to mid 50's oil cans

Here’s one that I use . Outdated but you can figure out the increase in values by using auctions and eBay sold prices .

I recommend going to a petroliana swap meet listed on the "Events" page that is linked at the top of this page. Find a vendor with a bunch of old motor oil cans and ask him to show you the fine points of dating cans by the way seams are made. Most vendors are also collectors themselves. Be courteous and respectful of their time and you may get a friendly education. Especially if you are also a customer. wink

Thank you iPad turns them upside down when they post . Last time I edited them 360 deg. and they posted correctly . This time it did not work. 👍
