Cleaning Glass - Sun Nov 15 2009 03:45 PM

In the final stages of reassembling a Tokeim 300 however I can not get the window glass clean. I have tried everything from soaking it for weeks in Simply Green, scrubing it with 0000 steel wool, and various other products WD 40, etc. Any ideas?

Dick, tried that also, it's the most noticable on the bottom where the rubber gasket must of held all the goop inplace over the years. Thanks.

Before spending too much time on it, buy new repo glass

Wes W found some glass cleaner that took off the real hard to get stuff. I will call him & let you know. They had a post on here about it a while back.

Try barkeepers friend and 0000 steel wool. Wet the glass, work into a paste with a paper towel and let sit for about 10 minutes. Haven't met a glass stain yet that that couldn't take care of.

Anyone tried Barkeeper's and steel wool on rust? Results? I'm cleaning up some chrome pieces that have some nasty rust on them. Dave

Barkeepers should work great. Takes rust stains out of porcelain like they weren't ever there. Be careful on old porcelain though and don't leave it on too long or it can etch the surface. Start with 5 minutes and go from there.
