I don’t know what happened. I was cleaning the numbers on the computer. When I reset the computer they are off. One side says 999 for the price the other side says 000. Before I cleaned the numbers it said 000 on both side. Also how hard is it to change the numbers on the computer? And how is it done? I have seen sites that sell the number decals.

I have service manuals for every Veeder-Root computer, just see my website:

If you have never messed with them before then DON'T! I had to make special tools to do mine, and I have destroyed lots of computers learning how to do them.

Number stickers can be put on easy buy starting the number in the place you want it and spin the wheel keeping the stick straight.

There used to be a guy here that would rebuild your computer for you, but I do not remember his name.

jkyocom aka; Joe Yocom is still here.

Yeah Travis, i have seen the sticker on web sites and on e-bay. i just might buy those and place them on the wheels so it all lines up.

Yea Joe is the re-builder - If you go the stick route, make sure you can spin all your wheels before buying. On one computer I had to pop the shutters off so I could do it. I really hate the sticks, but have had to use them on pumps before. I keep the good computers for myself.

so, how do i get the numbers to line up? or do i just put stickers on so they line up? the wheels do spin so it won't be hard to apply the stickers.

Jack could not access your website "petrocollecto.com", do you have service manuals for other cash recorders? working on a neptune for my Rheem 36.

well you say it lines up on one side all 999 - so set the stick 0 over the 999 so it will read 000 when reset.

i'm new to this Travis, and i'm sorry but what do you mean by "set the stick 0 over the 999 so it will read 000 when reset."

Exactly what he said.

Put the "0" on the sticker over the "9" on the computer wheel so the wheel will read "0" when reset.

oh yeah that was my plan. i didn't know what he meant by stick instead of sticker.
Posted By: moonphone Re: my numbers are off - Sun Apr 01 2012 04:09 AM
just got the sticker but the wheels are wider then the sticker. is that common? i now have to paint the wheels to match the bright white of the stickers becuase the wheels are not as bright as the stickers?

I think you should put the STICKERS in the trash or give them to your kids. Buy a can of brake cleaner and a can of wd-40. Take the thin sheet metel sides and top off the computer,(one bolt at the very top) then take the 4 bolts that hold it to the base off. then hose it down with the brake cleaner, then wd-40 everything that looks like it moves. With that done (or before maybe)you should be able to move each wheel separtely by reaching in with your hand and moving them back to 000, i think it's clockwise, but you'll be able to feel it, and you can start with the middle 0 or the left or right 0. IMPORTANT the computer needs to be off the base or the wheels won't spin. then paint thinner the wheels to get oil off repaint the white 1st then the black . also that rod that's in the middle of the computer when you take it off the base that rod makes the computer not sit level on a table to work on. you can throw that rod out also because you won't need it. then it well be easier to put the computer back on the base and it(computer will sit level when you work on it). (keep the rod only if your going to actually pump gas with it and need it to caluclate gallons and dollars).hope this helps

One side rotates UP & other side rotates DOWN
Posted By: moonphone Re: my numbers are off - Wed Apr 04 2012 12:36 AM
dalin, everything spins, so i can just spin the wheels from behind and set them back to zero? when i tried spinning the dials to all zero, the wheels on the other side spun also.
Posted By: dalin Re: my numbers are off - Wed Apr 04 2012 05:31 AM
Sounds like you have a Rubiks Cube and not a Veeder-Root(computer) ! LOL
Posted By: dalin Re: my numbers are off - Wed Apr 04 2012 05:46 AM
Yes, thats ok if the other side wheels spin. the 1st two wheels are spinning on the other side??? run them through a complete cycle (meaning if it's at say 274) the 2 should join up when it gets around to 7 then keep going till you hit 000. The 3rd wheel will move both sides. But, you should be able to manually turn the 1st and 2nd wheels without the other side turning, though. ? Maybe, I'm not explaining it well. Did you degrease it all and reoil everything? Perhaps, you have some bent gears? If your goal is just to get it back to 000 then perhaps just disconnect gears (on the side of computer) so your able to get to 000 ! without any gears it should spin like the show case show down wheel on The Price Is Right ! hope this helps

I couldn't sleep thinking about your Veeder-Root problem. LoL Before you wreck it by disconnecting gears. Try this simple thing. Where the reset handle(lever) would go into the Veeder if it was installed in your gas pump, try turning the shaft CLOCKWISE, with a pliers or shaft of a screwdriver. The shutters should come down and cover the wheels and just keep turning till it does a complete cycle and it should all be back to 000. If all else fails jkyocom restores them. goodnight
Posted By: moonphone Re: my numbers are off - Wed Apr 04 2012 11:43 AM
well Dalin that makes two of us that cant sleep over this. i looked at pictures when i first got the pump and the numbers where off when i got it. it wasnt anything i did. i know if i spun one of the wheels on one side(not sure which on) it would make the same wheel on the other side spin too. that why its off by two cents. yes everything was de-greased and oiled, i did that when i got itbeacuse it wouldnt spin. after that is worked. the only issue is that it doesnt reset to 000 on both sides. one side says 002.

plan B is turn the shaft to bring the shutters over the numbers? will that make it easier to spin numbers? lets find out. i contacted jkyocom but he said he is full right now.
Posted By: dalin Re: my numbers are off - Wed Apr 04 2012 03:21 PM
NO, plan B is.... example years ago when someone filled gas and it (veeder) was at say 23.8 gallons and $6.88 then when they turned the reset lever the shuuters would come down as it's resetting to 000 $000 so it was ready for the next person to fill gas. I just checked my veeder and it takes 1 full rotation clockwise of the of the shaft(reset level) to reset it.
Posted By: moonphone Re: my numbers are off - Wed Apr 04 2012 09:08 PM
ok i get it. yes after one full rotation its off by two cents. one side says 000 the other 002. and computer wasn't left at 000 so there are numbers that are faded out so i want to set it to 000 and change the numbers. ill try and rotate the dials from inside later when i get a chance.

i seen one of your earlier posts showing a photo of your Veeder i think you need a reset handle rod? because your was wore out? vics 66 has them.

it is an easy problem to fix, heck to explain.
Posted By: moonphone Re: my numbers are off - Thu Apr 05 2012 06:42 PM
yes i do Dalin, i'm ordering everything i need today, thanks. but i also need to know how to install the reset handle rod and make it work.
Posted By: dalin Re: my numbers are off - Fri Apr 06 2012 05:29 AM
well, i restored a M&S 80, about 10yrs ago and others and they are mostly all the same. i can talk you through it. i don't know how to add photos on here, but i could text photos of my m&s 80 and how the parts fit if you could like. were you able to get the handle off the reset rod yet? if not you put a pliers on the reset rod and a pliers on the handle and go up with one pliers and down with the other. or put it in a vise and spin one of them off.
Posted By: moonphone Re: my numbers are off - Fri Apr 06 2012 02:29 PM
If you could send me picture that would be great. Ill PM you my cell number and my e-mail address. I can’t get the handle off the rod. I think it’s stripped? If you hold the rod the handle just spins on the rod like a propeller. Is it supposed to be like that?

ok
