A week ago we had had a post regarding a 10 gallon "Milk" can that had Gulf Oil embossed on it. Coincidently a friend recently gave me two of these five gallon cans marked with Standard Oil of California. Within a week I came across a photo of a bulk truck hauling cans like these from the Standard bulk oil plant in the town of Los Olivos near here.

I finally got a scan of the photo.

Could just as easily have been a truck delivering cans of milk.

My cans could very well have come from this plant since they came off of a ranch in Santa Maria 30 miles to the north. The plant was located on a railroad spur at the end of the narrow gauge railroad that once ran from Los Olivos to Port San Luis at Avila Beach if you know the area.

Here's what the cans in question look like.

Here's another photo of the bulk plant with the rail car pulled up to the depot in Los Olivos.
