So what year was the first of these signs brought out by Texaco?

3-40 is the oldest I've seen for both SkyChief and Fire-Chief.

Not an expert. Oldest pump plates I have seen were 1940. Prior to that they used mostly decals to identify Fire Chief. Prior to Sky Chief, Texaco called the premium brand Fire Chief with Ethyl. I redid a Bennet 76 as Texaco Ethyl and had to use pictures to create a "decal." It was actually a magentic sign I had created. They did put some porcelain signs on pumps that were the Clean, Clear, Golden signs....And yes, this was the Standard Oil version of Bennet 76...
