Hi all.

I recently tripped across this and am looking for a little background. It is probably from the late 30's to early 40's and found under a house in San Francisco (built 1941). My dad (in his late 80's) seems to recall Miquon being a local brand, but I can't seem to find much about it or other cans like it for comparison.

Any advice on cleaning this? The back side has a lot of surface rust and it is fairly filthy all around. Would I be committing a foul from trying to degrease it? My wife won't let it in the house in its current condition.

Thanks in advance, for any information.

-Ben

Looks like it might say, "Standard Oil Company of California" along the bottom. Is that correct?

That is correct. I apologize for the singular picture. Here are a few more of the sides and back (rusty).
