Hey everyone, first time...long time. I’m considering purchase of the sign pictured here. It is hanging on the exterior of an antique shop in anew England. It is approx. 14” by 36”. It is being sold as authentic and based on some of the light wear and tear, I feel it is authentic. However, I would like the expert advice from all of you. As you’ll see, the date is 3-66.

I appreciate your help.

Thank you, Tankar. Any suggestion on value? I’ve seen a wide range of prices - and one coming up for auction at Mecum. Again, thank you.

don't go by a mecum, barrett Jackson or other big auction houses for a price guide. I thought I knew prices left a bid on a 700 dollar sign I thought and got outbid. just pay what your comfortable with and enjoy it.

Thank you both for your feedback. Very helpful for a newcomer. Here’s the outcome of my first day entering the world of gas/petrobilia. I will pick up the OilZum sign later today. I know a few of these are a little on the “patina” side, but I like them a little rustic. The dealer has a ton of stuff and it was hard to close the wallet and walk away. Thanks, again.

If you think anything seems affordable buy it prices usually only climb.

You picked up some nice stuff. I like the Duplex can. I've seen prices vary drastically from region to region . I'm no expert but I've bought ad sold a lot of signs and stuff. Keep in mind that I'm a cheapskate but I would be comfortable paying 175 for it and I think a realistic retail price would be 275. That's in California where I recently moved from. Here in Kentucky prices are way higher and I haven't quite got it figured out yet.

Ironheadtom, are you talking about the Raybestos sign or the Oilzum? Appreciate the feedback either way!
