wow, some nice signs.

one question... I have seen Cataloged Auctions is also advertising a March 6th Peotone Auction at noon, any relation between the two?

Just like to say thanks for keeping your buyers premium at a reasonable level... It is noticed and I will vote for this with my buying dollars.

Gentlemen:
Dave Thompson and I are currently in the process of cataloging the collections. In my opinion it will be quite an impressive offering. Our goal with this auction and all future auctions (Columbus, Fall Peotone, etc) will be to offer approximately 200-250 select items (unless it's one large colleciton we're selling) thereby keeping the auction time limited to 4 hours or less.

Following is the link to the Proxibid catalog:

The Auction will be held on Friday March 6th at 12:00 PM (Noon) at the Holiday Conference Center in Matteson, Illinois. Just ten minutes north of Peotone on I-57. It is a very nice facility with full restaurant and bar attached.

Gentlemen:
I conducted my first Automobilia & Soda collectibles auction in May of 1990 and that was a No Reserve auction. Since that day forward I have always felt that auctions should be conducted Absolute, No Reserve. This philosophy has been carried forward for the last 13 years that I have been at Barrett-Jackson. In fact we just sold 2,000 items of Automobilia and Petrolinia in January all at No Reserve.

When I was asked to conduct the Columbus Auction it was very short notice so in order to be fair to the consignors I accepted just a handful of items (I believe it was five) with reserves out of 325 items offered. When Tim and Kevin asked us to put on the Fall Peotone Auction it was again short notice so we accepted 4 or five items with reserves (all announced to the crowd) with the other 245 items selling at No Reserve.

With this upcoming Peotone auction we have only accepted one item thus far which is the Packard Radiator sign lot#68 (clearly marked as a reserve item on Proxibid) and that has a reasonable reserve the rest of the items (99% ) are selling at No Reserve. I am still working on some final consignments of which one is a VERY significant piece and it also might have a reasonable reserve if it is consigned (and if so will be announced to the crowd).

While having an auction which is 98%-99% sold at No Reserve is great…our goal for Columbus will be to have ALL of the lots selling at No Reserve.

If anyone has any questions please fill free to contact me. Also we're still looking for a few more quality pieces to finish out the sale.

Regards,
Rory

thanks
Posted By: BryceG Re: Spring Peotone Show Auction - Sun Mar 01 2015 02:56 PM
looks like everything is not cataloged yet... appears to be less than 150 items, Rory said 250 total I believe
Posted By: canosaurus Re: Spring Peotone Show Auction - Sun Mar 01 2015 08:04 PM
Hello all, quick update on the auction and the recent questions. Bad news and good news....bad first, the hood flange will not be in this auction. The good news is that it will be available instead in the Columbus auction in June. A problem came up where it had to be postponed. The Peotone auction is looking incredible, we have rounded it out at right around 200 items (we would still consider a few quality consignments if you contact Rory or myself). There are some really great pieces we will be posting very soon. Am working on posting a couple photos of some of the goodies yet to come. The quality of items in this sale is amazing, many VERY clean and rare pieces will be available. We will be getting out more information very soon. Thank you all again and keep watching for updates.

Not sure Paul but will find the answer and get it posted. For clarity, you are referring to internet bidding rather than live floor bidding, correct?

It is all original and truly that clean. We stand behind it 100%. Just an amazing condition sign. Few I have seen have had fading in the red.

Must be NOS,everyone I've seen the red is faded bad. Find out anything on the Tax for internet bidders??
Posted By: canosaurus Re: Spring Peotone Show Auction - Mon Mar 02 2015 06:04 PM
Yes, it is really that nice. I agree, the ones I have seen all have fading in the red. If you are bidding online and item(s) is/are being shipped out of state, there is no sales tax.
Posted By: canosaurus Re: Spring Peotone Show Auction - Mon Mar 02 2015 06:35 PM
One more quick update/clarification. A few of the items pictured above will be for sale but not until the Columbus auction. They include the Hood flange, the Arvin flange and the 2 Pontiac signs. There was a glitch and they had to be bumped back. All other items pictured are in this sale. Sorry for the false adrenaline rush....they will be available in June.

We would like to thank EVERYONE who made our Second Peotone Auction so amazing. A HUGE thank you on behalf of Dave Thompson and myself to our consignors for entrusting us with their prized items. I believe both buyers and sellers were happy which is our overal goal and we managed to establish the World Record for a gas and oil sign selling at auction (Husky Shield Sign lot #45). Our new home at the Matteson Holiday Inn Conference Center was very warmly received by the attendees who praised both the hotel and restaurant. Brinkman Auctions and Gas Guys plan to make this the host hotel for future Peotone events. If you have a single item or an entire collection please do not hesitate to contact either Dave Thompson or myself for placement in the Official Fall Peotone Auction which is scheduled for Friday October 16 at 12:00 PM (Noon).
Regards,
Rory
