Selling an original white crown globe. Someone had painted it red but there is no etching on the glass so it was originally a white crown. Globe is in excellent condition and still has screwfitter on base. Asking $400.00. Thanks.

Still for sale

Most likely factory repaint Standard did that often. Red wears like that so it's really a decent Red Crown. Should be worth at least that much. Scott B.

Actually that is original paint seen many over the last 40 years...Standard returned some crowns and repainted white ones red to save money I guess that is original red paint with wear. You are correct it was a White Crown but now it's technically a Red Crown! Scott B.

I would have bought it too but was quoted over $200 to ship to Calif.

Ive shipped a very heavy globe to California for $80 Fedex and it was double boxed, a 24" cube and a 20" cube.

FYI, not being snotty, just staying it doesn't cost more then $100 to ship a crown across the states.

Trust me - I think the cost is outrageous. I have not quoted Fed Ex since they've broken two items that I bought from folks. So please tell me how you safely shipped such a large globe without breakage. I'd really like to sell this one so I can buy other globes. Thanks. Rich.

Wrap the crown in bubble wrap in a 20X20X20 box with styro peanuts around all sides, top and bottom. Shake the box to make sure there's no movement. Put 2" of styro peanuts or sheets of styofoam in the bottom of a 24X24X24 box. Place the 20" box in the bigger box. Fill in around and on top of the smaller box with styro peanuts or sheet styro.
Since that's a big box it will likely end up on the bottom of a stack of packages so I like to use sheet styro for the filler above the smaller box.
NEVER let one of the shippers pack a globe as they don't do it correctly!
You should be able to ship that crown anywhere in the lower 48 via USPS Priority for $100-$120.

Bob is exactly correct on shipping and price also.

I wouldn't ship a globe till after first of year right now as they all are going crazy working.

I just shipped a crown globe doubled boxed through the USPS for $23.00. Can be shipped cheaper if you know someone with a UPS business account.

$400 insurance coverage costs $6.75

22 x 22 x 22 boxes. We have never had one delivered broken. We are in the Midwest and can ship to the West or East coast FedEx insured for a max of $55. The Midwest is more like $35 - $39.
