IN THE JACK SIM AIR METER IDENTIFICATION AND PRICE GUIDE BOOK, HE HAS THIS METER VALUED AT $3500, AND THAT BOOK WAS COPYRIGHTED 7 YEARS AGO IN 2008!

Although a very nice early piece, most calls that I get are for the 97/98 Models. You might be seeing a smaller buying market? By the way, Jack's book is invaluable to our hobby, but it is designed as a guide. Jack did not mean for his prices to be more than an average? In 2008 things might have been different? It was 2008 that the Stock Market took a downturn and hurt or destroyed many families finances. Things have still not recovered? This could be the case with this unit? I'm with you Mike, we talked about it at Dixie. I think we just both need to hold out and the right buyers will eventually show. Paul shares some good points in his remarks too.

I too see 40's and 50's things moving at higher rates than earlier things. Model A's opposed to 60's cars. people buy things they remember more and the amount of people buying the older stuff is just slowing down.
Just was at a swap meet where people looked at visibles and said how grandfathers and fathers had them. But they had a bigger interest in the newer pumps.
Sign of the generational changes.

You have a good point Craig, but I see guys paying $2600, $2700 for a model 97 and there is a MILLION of them out there, I always wanted the harder and more rare items to collect,I like to have something that not everyone has, and it always payed off in the end!...Mike

There are also a lot more parts for the later eco's. To me, this is a hard meter to sell without the stand and I think Jacks book for this unit, by itself, is about a grand high. Add the stand and it commands the high dollar price. Just my.02.

True, and I can't understand why people pay as much for the the air meter on a stand when an islander has more stuff to it.

I dont think many of the younger guys can relate to these early air meters thats why the 97/98 and islander models bring more money... I prefer the early meters but the only meter thats early that is worth $3500 is a 40 series reel model. The prices in the book are just a number and Jack will tell you the same thing.

Eco Drum models like the 19 are still doing Big money,and they are early models, just sold one for over $5000, and have people calling looking for more!

yep decorators buying the newer ones collectors appreciate the older ones I believe
