I bought several signs in 2015, this 6' Sinclair triple check being my favorite. It was a considerable upgrade over the one I had before, and my favorite Sinclair logo.
Hello All, For me it would be my "barn find" pair of Sinclair Aircraft signs... A once in a lifetime find more than likely, and one of the best stories I will ever be able to tell people in the Old Gas circuit. A close second would be the Red Crown globe....it's just a beautiful globe! Darin
WOW! 2015!!! One of the best years ever for me as a collector! I was able to upgrade several items and was lucky enough to add several high quality items to the collection. I doubt there will ever be another year as gracious as 2015!!
Wow what a year, it has been a great one! From me getting my very first clock face pump in the Hayes AX-600-C, to finally being able to cross one of my all time favorites off of the list in the Tokheim 850, to picking up my 5 gallon Fry which was the first pump I ever tried to buy 7 years ago, to a great survivor in the Bennett, and a unique and very complete Dayton visible, and being lucky enough to find and save a super cool and rare neon sign!
What a great year, I hope 2016 is just as good to me!
Wow!! Lot's of great additions for everyone so far. Here are mine. A cool poster, A couple of signs, my only pump and a $50 rocker that had a surprise under the paint.
My buys of the year. Thanks to the oldgas members that have made deals with me hope to make more this year. Thanks again to Jim for the wonderful site.
Was finally able to get an original Flying A "Air Wing" Tire insert for my tire:
Also, picked up an original Flying A Battery insert (lost the auction for the one I really wanted.. LOL)... Now my NOS Delco Battery is a Delco/Flying A display battery:
And lastly; thanks to AL. I was able to add an early Veedol Forzol tin tacker to the 1/2 bath:
2015 was a great year for adding to the collection. Probably won't be able to top it unless I win the lottery. Added some great signs and pumps. The two 850s are my favorite pumps I added and my favorite sign is one of the ones on this Wall.
A few more globes.... The Kanotex globes were auction purchases. I got the Hiotane from a good friend. The Thriftane was an ebay purchase, and a globe I've wanted for a long time.
A few more... The Vaught globes are scarce as hen's teeth. I got them from an old friend. I've always liked the IL Oil Co Torpedo globes but didn't think I'd have the opportunity to own one. I was able to get the Sparco and Torpedo globes from a buddy that was down sizing.
I got this Ford parts cabinet from a long time friend.
I was fortunate to add some nice pieces to my collection in 2015, but what makes collecting so much fun is spending time with friends with similar interests.
Finally got this Gilmore "King for a Day" stuff after trying to talk the guy out of it for 20 years, upgraded my Union Speed and Power sign and picked up this 6ft Veltex- Thanks, Mike
2015 was a great year for me!! Got to meet lots of people in the hobby and also grew my knowledge some more as a collector! Hopefully 2016 goes as well!!
Great finds everyone. Here are my two favorite additions of the past year: A near mint single sided Texaco 42", and a Flying A single sided porcelain. Hope everyone has a great 2016!
I would love to show you my buys of the year...but you'd be bored of a university receipt for my daughters education....awesome and amazing buys guys!!
Mine was a circa 1925 "Splatter Porcelain" milk glass Nash dealer sign purportedly from a dealership in San Luis Obispo California. Built by Federal Electric from Oakland. As a Nash collector as well as signs I don't think it will get better than this for me.

My BOTY may not be the one's that I spent the most $ on, but they are the one's that mean the most to me. I was contacted by the guys helping disperse the estate of Dick Bennett. Apparently DB had it set up so some of his collectibles were to be offered to other collectors who he knew collected "like" items. In my case, I was offered several of his Salesman samples, and Lighter Fluid dispensers. Well to say the least I was honored. I'll try to post photos here of the one's I was able to add to my collection. It's been a long time since I posted photos, and I'm a bit rusty. But thanks DB for thinking of me, I have provided a good home for them.
That's the last of them. The first one, I believe was Dick's favorite. "The Western" missing a lot of the lettering but made by "The Anthony Wayne Mfg. Co." The Tall one with the Spanish lettering and calibrated in Liters is a G&B Clockface made in Spain. Very detailed, even has a small Visi-guage on the side. The second one is a Tokheim "Dome" I believe this is a salesman sample of the very first one designed to draw fluid from a barrel down in the basement to be dispensed upstairs in a general store type business. (Late 1800's) The one that I took apart and showed the metal can inside, is a Gilbarco. Actually made of a balsa wood type material. The other item, is a salesman sample for a tire retreading machine. This is the only one of these I've ever seen. The last one looks like the whole Island. It is Italian made a Lighter Fluid dispenser. When the cap of the small dispenser on the far right is lifted, the fluid is dispensed from the tube on the front. I have them all displayed inside the same display case, and where/who they came from. DB was a pain many times, but I can't tell you how often I've wished I had him around to answer a question for me. I miss that guy !
