While digging through my Husky stuff today, I came across a sleeve of color slides that I hadn't ever taken a good look at, even though I've had them for 30 years. Go figure. Some of them are photos of a Husky station that my grandfather felt was important enough to photograph. Looks like the owner was having some sort of promotional event. I don't have any idea as to the location, so if someone recognizes the spot, please let me know. These photos are dated July, 1959.

The other photos are of a couple of McKale's service stations in the Seattle, WA area. McKale was a Union 76 distributor with stations in the Seattle and San Francisco areas. These photos are dated 1954, which happens to be the year that my grandfather left Union Oil to take over as President of McKale's (Mr. McKale was in failing health).

The White Center Laundry in the background helped me pin down the location of this station, which is SW. 98th St. & 16th Ave. SW. in White Center (near Burien, WA). I've added a Google Earth street view for comparison.

Here's the other McKale's station. I have not been able to figure out the location of this one. I suspect it is one of the sites that has been eradicated by freeway construction or urban renewal.

Thanks for sharing. I have never seen a UNION station with the owners name on the top like that.

McKale's was Union Oil's largest independent distributor on the west coast. I can only imagine that that must have given them some lee-way with their signage.

Great photos, thanks. Really like the one with the White Center Triple XXX in the background.

1951 Star light coupe
There are several other Studebakers and Hudson's in the other photos.
Must have been some independent dealers around
