Well i was wondering how many of us have a pump that is so rusty it would take every part being replaced to restore it?I have found over 50 pumps here in my area,solid rust free,90% paint on em still.Last year while at my sisters in GA,i found two bowsers still on the island.Very pitted and rusty and you can almost bend the frame by hand.After discovering fire ants and taking 30 bites or so i got them in the truck for the 1600 mile ride home.So what do you do with these kind of pumps,my guess is yard art.Any one have a beat up pump plate for shell for sale?cheap.

I do not have any pump plates, but around here, those two pumps are perfect for restoration. I would take them in that condition all day. Brady

Buy a decal, mount it on a piece of metal, distress it with some burnt umber, cover it with some matte clear coat and let it rot.
Cheap date and it can look old too.

I bought a repro Mobilgas Special plate for my unrestored M&S 80 and did the burnt umber trick to make it look old. Blue chip stamp decal was already there.

oops sorry,these pics are the same pump.other one looks the same too.I thought about getting a porc sign and chipping it up,maybe dump it in some salt water awhile?the globe i found on feebay,looked to match the pump.Lol!!!hey is that horse one of those 30" repo's on ebay?i like those.

Chip it up and spray some muratic acid on it and leave it out side. When you walk buy through some water on it. It will rust in no time. spray some more acid every couple days. Dont do this in a shop it will rust everthing in the building.
