Lion Oil license topper from my collection.
Top left, similar to Gary's, but not metalic finish.
Top right, notice embossed lines, also appears to have been gold in color instead of red.
Bottom one, the tag is bent to give it an offset.

This Hancock belongs to a friend.

Hi Scott, They did make a repop of the California World Fair topper. I remember seeing a few show up back in the 80's and they were made out of Aluminum. I hope yours is steel.
Mark, The Mobil above isn't mine but I know it is a fake. I was just trying to get a response. Thanks and welcome to oldgas.com. Here are a couple of MFA toppers.

I collect toppers and plates related to caves. Does anyone know of a "history" of plate toppers? I am putting on a display of cave toppers at a museum and would like more info on their history. Like what is the earliest topper known? Thanks, cavemuseum
Here is a picture of the fake(on the left) and the real one(on the right). The fakes never have World's,only World. They are also aluminum and do not have the detailed embossing. I bought my fake about fifteen years ago at an AACA swap meet. Mine had been made to look old by dirtying it up. I was told it came off a mantle in someone's house. I traded two sinclair dino porcelain pump plates for it. Boy did I ever get robbed! Oh, by the way,the vendor's name was Jessie James, honestly!! LOL!!

Here are some more from my collection. I had about eighty different ones at time but sold most of them over the past two years on Ebay.
